Teen evades police in West Glacier woods

A 17-year-old male evaded authorities after an extensive air and ground search late Thursday night in the West Glacier area. The teen was allegedly last seen fleeing a vehicle during a traffic stop.

According to Flathead Undersheriff Dave Leib, the boy jumped out of the vehicle after being stopped by a deputy and fled on foot into the forest nearby. The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office led the search involving Montana Highway Patrol, U.S. Border Patrol, the Forest Service and a Two Bear Air helicopter.

A caller told Columbia Falls Police that several Canadian motorcyclists were blocking the street on First Avenue West. When the caller asked the cyclists to move, they reportedly refused and became verbally abusive. The cyclists then reportedly continued to sit there, “staring down” the caller. The bikers had reportedly dispersed before officers arrived on the scene.

A caller on 12th Avenue West called 911 to report that some kids were throwing rocks at playground equipment.

A caller told Whitefish Police they had been told to call every time they sighted a bear in the area. A bear was reportedly in the area near Kinnikinnick Circle.

The back window on the driver’s side of a car on Park Avenue was reportedly broken into.

A caller was concerned about a rental property on Birch Hill Drive. The caller had reportedly filled out a rental form with personal information and stated that things felt “sketchy.”

Someone with the Federal Aviation Administration Flight Service called to report a missing plane. A twin cessna had reportedly disappeared near Couer d’Alene, Idaho. The plane was later found.

A man had reportedly been stumbling around on foot, had trouble getting into his car and almost hit another vehicle in a parking lot as he was leaving via U.S. 93 South. The caller told Kalispell Police the driver was then traveling down the highway at a high rate of speed. Another caller stated the driver had already hit someone and broken a driver’s side mirror. The vehicle was allegedly swerving back and forth, crossing and “weaving all over.” The driver was reportedly forcing other vehicles off the road and driving in the oncoming lane.

A woman reported that another woman allegedly assaulted her 3-year-old on Hutton Ranch Road. The caller reported that she had gone to get a shopping cart when the woman got into her car and grabbed her daughter. The caller believed the woman had been attempting to “grab” her child and stated that when she returned to the car the woman allegedly “went crazy.”

A caller reported that someone had broken into her home on Harrison Boulevard and stated that she could see fingerprints and footprints inside her daughter’s bedroom window.

A dog had reportedly been left in a garage on Jackson Peak Drive and had been there alone for two days, barking nonstop. The caller asked that someone speak with the owners.
