James Allyn Broderick, 79

James Allyn Broderick passed away June 21, 2017 at the age of 79.

He was born July 25, 1937, in Eureka to Doris and James Broderick. Almost 80 years later, Eureka would become his final resting place due to natural causes.

“Jimmy” attended high school in Eureka and later moved to Spokane to graduate from Gonzaga High School. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. After serving three years with 1st Force Recon, he was honorably discharged on Nov. 14, 1958, as a corporal. He served tours in both Japan and the Philippines.

Jimmy married Beverly Keene, May 20, 1967, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. From there they moved to Eureka to raise their family at Glen Lake. Jim worked as a logger in Montana, California and Alaska during the peak years of the industry until his retirement.

He is survived by his former wife Beverly, daughters Jody and Shawna, sons Lanny (Judy) and Pat; and Derek (Pamela), along with stepsons John and Ted.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Patricia Hipley, Maxine Meuli, Carol Green, brothers Wayne Broderick and Dale Broderick, along with son Mark Broderick and great-grandson Challice. He also leaves behind many grand- and great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday July 2, at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Eureka, and will be followed by a graveside service at Tobacco Valley Cemetery.
