Woman reports snowball assault

| March 5, 2017 11:06 PM

A caller told the Whitefish Police Department she was assaulted on U.S. 93 South by a man who allegedly threw a snowball at her face. She added that the unknown man and the rest of the group he was hanging out with appeared to be drunk, including the driver of the car. Everyone involved had moved on before officers arrived.

The owner of a truck on Waverly Place told police the truck had been intentionally keyed.

A caller asked police to check on a man who had just called her for a phone number. The woman said that while she was helping him find the phone number, she overheard him yell at someone in the background and threaten them. She was concerned for the safety of the other person being yelled at. Officers followed up with the man, who said everything was fine.

Officers picked up a dog that had been found wandering in the Lion Mountain trailhead area. The dog was described as a small male terrier, with long brownish-red fur, wearing a blue with black trim nylon collar. Unfortunately the collar did not include tags, and the pup was taken to the Flathead County Animal Shelter for care until the owner could be found.

The Columbia Falls Police Department made contact with a driver who allegedly took off without paying for gas. The driver said they would return to the gas station and pay.

The Evergreen Fire Department responded to reports of a burn pile on Palmer Drive.
