Missing man left train too soon

A man called the Whitefish Police Department after his son failed to get off the train at the Whitefish station. The man said he couldn’t reach his son, and didn’t know why the plans had changed. Officers were eventually able to confirm that the son had gotten off accidentally in Spokane, and was safe.

A Saint Moritz Drive resident called for assistance because he was out of town and thought he left his garage door open. The garage door was not left open.

A caller told police that a family that had been playing in a Karrow Avenue park had left a diaper bag and purse behind. Officers picked up the items and were able to return them to the owners.

A cover had somehow been knocked off a manhole near Sawtooth Drive, and a caller was concerned someone could fall in. Officers placed plywood over the hole to avoid a hazardous mishap until public works could replace the cover.

Officers counseled a U.S. 93 South business employee after the employee called police to report a man who “was rude and slammed the door.”

A driver who had parked his vehicle behind a Central Avenue business reported that some damage had been done while it was parked. Officers were unable to locate any suspects.

A Fourth Avenue West resident called the Columbia Falls Police Department to report a dog barking nearby. Officers spoke with the vocal dog’s owner, who agreed to try a bark collar.

A Sixth Street West resident called about several dogs barking at a nearby house, and said the noise was allegedly an ongoing problem. Officers who responded didn’t see or hear any dogs.

A vehicle parked in a lot off Ninth Street West was reportedly damaged overnight.

The Whitefish Fire Department responded to reports of an outdoor gas odor on U.S. 93 South. West Valley Fire Department responded to a similar call on Farm to Market Road, and Kalispell Fire Department responded to an indoor gas odor complaint on U.S. 2 West.

The Evergreen Fire Department responded to a power lines emergency on U.S. 2 East.
