| May 6, 2017 9:35 PM

Dr. John T. Noonan passed away on April 13, 2017, at the Cascades of the Sierras in Reno, Nevada, where he lived for seven years.

The son of Thomas Harold Noonan and Marie Carey Noonan, Jack was born in Butte on June 16, 1935. He attended St. Patrick’s school, Boys Central High School and Carroll College.

A 1959 graduate of Creighton University School of Dentistry, he practiced his profession in Great Falls for 40 years. With kindness and concern he included in his practice special needs patients including those in Boulder.

He served in the United States Air Force at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Anchorage, Alaska, where he was head of dependent dental care. He experienced some exciting rides with bush pilots as he was flown into remote areas to care for the dental needs of personnel stationed there.

He was a member of the Western Regional Board of Dentistry and served as president for two years. He was also a member of the Montana Board of Dentistry.

An active charter member of Saints Peter and Paul parish, he participated in the development of the new parish and school.

Jack enjoyed life and was always enthusiastic about having fun! He provided many joyful experiences for his family — skiing, golfing and spending time at their place on Swan Lake. Riding his Goldwing motorcycle was also a favorite activity. He had a passion for travel and he made every trip an adventure!

He was married to Carol Hughes Noonan from 1961 to 2005.

Survivors include his brother, the Rev. Robert C. Noonan, of Missoula; son, Dr. David Noonan (Mary), of Jeffersonville, Indiana; daughters, Elaine Messerli of Reno, Marilyn Noonan of Kalispell, Kathleen Putnam of Seattle, and Jennifer McKibbin (Scott) of Seattle; grandchildren, Ryan Messerli, Amanda Roubo, Kristie Messerli, Matthew Messerli and Michael Messerli, all of Reno, and Hope Putnam of Seattle; and three great-grandchildren, Hailley, Payton and Noah Messerli of Reno.
