Drive-thru debacle leads to DUI

A driver called the Kalispell Police Department from the drive-thru line at an East Idaho Street restaurant. Apparently, the man in front of her in line kept passing out, holding up the line. She said she went to his vehicle’s window to wake him and keep him moving, and could smell alcohol on him. Officers ended up arresting the man on suspicion of DUI.

A shopper at a store off U.S. 93 North called police when someone allegedly took a bag of purchased goods from her. The woman said she bought about $50 in merchandise from one store, then took that bag with her into another store to continue shopping. While in the second store, she set the bag down and someone allegedly walked off with it.

A Hilltop Avenue resident called about a barking dog nearby. Officers made contact with the loud canine’s owner, who agreed to keep the dog quieter.

Screaming and loud music was reportedly coming from a vehicle in a parking lot off East Center Street. Officers spoke with the vehicle’s occupants and they were advised of the noise complaint.

The manager of a business on U.S. 93 South called the Whitefish Police Department about a bus that was parked on the property. The occupants told police they had spoken to another employee the day before about parking there, and agreed to speak with the manager and get it sorted out.

A woman from Great Falls called concerned for a friend living on Wisconsin Avenue. The out-of-town caller said she was on the phone with her friend when sounds of people “physically fighting” began and the line disconnected. Officers spoke with the friend and another person on the premises, who said it had been a verbal argument only. The woman agreed to call her worried Great Falls friend back right away.

A Whitefish caller alerted police of a possible online scam. The caller said they responded to an online ad for a rental house, but became suspicious because the ad listed the rental with a different agency than the agency that was actually renting the property. Then the suspects running the ad asked for a money wire transfer to secure the rental. The ad had been pulled off the website and the contact number listed was inactive.

An employee of a U.S. 93 South business called when two men began fighting in the parking lot.

Someone alerted police that there was an intoxicated woman sitting on a Central Avenue bench. Officers were not able to locate a female matching the description they were given.

Columbia Falls Police Department responded to reports of a sign that had been run over near Veteran Drive.

A Fourth Avenue West resident called police about some people in the alley with flashlights. Officers were unable to locate anyone suspicious in the area.

The Olney Fire Department responded to reports of a grass fire on Martin Camp Road.

The Bigfork Fire Department assisted with an elevator rescue on Osborn Avenue.

The Kalispell Fire Department responded to reports of a grass fire on First Avenue East.

The U.S. Forest Service responded to reports of a structure fire on Columbia Meadows Drive.

The Marion Fire Department responded to reports of an illegal burn on Hubbart Dam Road.
