Black bear spotted in Whitefish

| October 21, 2017 1:41 AM

The Whitefish Police Department took a report of a black bear on a trail near Idaho Avenue in Whitefish.

A Canadian caller told Whitefish police that a suspicious man had been seen at the front door and looking through the windows of their Houston Point Drive residence. The homeowners had seen the man on their security feed, and told police they had the footage recorded. The caller said they had a friend check on the residence and everything looked secure with nothing missing, but wanted to report the suspicious activity anyway.

Another caller on Houston Point Drive reported that her vehicles had been rummaged through and some items, including a gun, had been stolen.

A man on Baker Avenue reported his jacket missing with his cellphone still in a pocket. He later reportedly found the items.

A caller told police there was a man going through cars with a flashlight in a parking lot off Baker Avenue. Officers found the man was actually using a light on his cellphone, and that nothing illegal was going on.

The West Valley Fire Department responded to reports of an explosion on Franklin Way in Kalispell.
