For the fourth year running, Kalispell’s North End Swing is hosting its annual Black Light Dance. The Sassafras ballroom will be illuminated with black lights, of course, along with special effects such as fog and colorful laser dots. The group is forgoing its traditional vintage tunes for a night of electro-swing — think big band music, but with house beats.

The night kicks off at 7 p.m., Oct. 27 with an introductory East Coast Swing lesson that’s both beginner and singles-friendly, followed by social dancing that wraps up at 11 p.m. Admission to the dance is $10 and includes glow sticks and highlighters for those who wish to make an addition to their glowing costumes. Dancers can also capture a piece of the fun inside a photobooth for $5. In previous years, organizer Levi Hoch said the dance has attracted a crowd of around 120, and expects this year’s event to be even bigger.

White and fluorescent attire is encouraged. The dance is an alcohol-free event and children are welcome. The ballroom is located in the second story of Sassafras at 120 S. Main St. in Kalispell. The entrance is in the back of the building.
