FRENCHTOWN — Frenchtown’s Courtney Ockler won her second golf meet in two days as a handful of Western A teams wrapped up the second Frenchtown Invitational in as many days.

Ockler edged Whitefish’s Gracie Young and Ronan’s Brooklyn Olson by a single stroke on Wednesday, scoring a 90 to take medalist honors at The Ranch Club. With those teams gone, Ockler won by 20 strokes on Thursday at King Ranch over a pair of Browning golfers as the Broncs split the team title.

Hamilton’s Tristan Hanson took boys medalist honors on Thursday at the University of Montana golf course, topping a mostly JV field that saw Stevensville’s Jayce Painter finish second with an 82. Polson, which didn’t golf any of the same lineup that nearly won the tournament the day before, was led by Colby Devlin in sixth with an 89.

Libby’s Ryggs Johnston torched The Ranch Club on Wednesday, shooting a 8-under-par 64 to win by 12 strokes over Polson’s Carson McDaniel. The Hamilton boys and Whitefish girls took home team honors from the first meet.

With a little more than two weeks left until the state tournament, the next big stop for the area Class A teams will be the Hamilton Invitational on Saturday. Weather permitting, Columbia Falls will host a meet on Tuesday before next Saturday’s divisional round back in Hamilton.

The state tournament will be held on Sept. 29-30 at Sidney Country Club on the far Eastern edge of the state.
