Glacier, Eureka, Libby spikers roll

Two days removed from a tight match at Missoula Big Sky, Glacier had a much easier time with another Missoula school on Thursday night.

The Wolfpack defeated Missoula Hellgate 25-19, 25-12, 25-14 in its first home game since missing nearly a week of action due to the threats made to area schools last week.

“We’re getting back into the swing a little better now,” Glacier head coach Christy Harkins said. “I thought we had better ball control tonight. We just passed quite a bit better.”

Anna Schrade accounted for 10 of Glacier’s 26 kills. The Wolfpack had 11 aces to Hellgate’s five.

Glacier returns to action at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Missoula Sentinel.

Big Sky 3, Flathead 2

Flathead won the first two sets of its Western AA conference match against Big Sky but couldn’t close out the win, losing 19-25, 19-25, 25-14, 26-24, 15-11.

Julia Burden and Madde Boles each had 13 kills for the Bravettes and Sierra Wilhelm had 23 digs.

Big Sky’s Sam Tiede had 18 kills and 19 digs in the win.

Eureka 3, Bigfork 0

EUREKA — Eureka won three clos sets to take a Western B conference match against the Valkyries, 25-23, 30-28, 26-24.

“It was an intense night of volleyball,” Eureka coach Charli Chapman said. “A lot of fun, long hard-fought rallies. It was really great volleyball from both sides.”

Erynn Thier and Cassi Peterson each had 12 kills for the Lions and Sienna Utter added 11 in the win. Bailey Bishop had three blocks and five aces for Eureka.

Abby Ellison led Bigfork with seven kills and four aces.

Libby 3, Whitefish 1

LIBBY — Libby stayed perfect on the season, downing Whitefish 25-14, 25-10, 17-25, 25-19 in a Northwest A match.

Mehki Sykes had 16 kills and five blocks for Libby. She finished with no hitting errors.

Jayden Winslow added 11 kills while Emily Mossburg had seven blocks for the Loggers.

“She was outstanding at the net,” Libby coach Cindy Ostrem-Johnston said of Sykes.

“Fun to watch.

“The first two sets we were firing on all cylinders,” Ostrem-Johnston continued.

“Everyone was playing well. Mehki lit it up.”

Whitefish had a balance at the net with Lauren Schulz, Cailyn Ross and Annisa Brown finishing with five kills each. Ross and Brown led the Bulldogs in blocks with two each.

Libby (7-0 overall, 5-0 league) continues with league action on Saturday at Ronan.

PLAINS — Plains finished off with victories in the final two sets for a 25-15, 15-25, 25-18, 25-10 victory over Troy.

Aurora Becquart had 14 kills, two blocks and 10 digs to lead Troy.
