Driver detains suspect in hit and run

After a man allegedly ran into another driver with his vehicle, he reportedly took off without addressing the wreck, according to a Flathead County Sheriff’s report. The other driver called the authorities as he followed the man, stopped him and took his keys. The two men reportedly then waited calmly for police to arrive.

A man was reportedly seen with his pants down on Hawks Lake Lane. A driver passing by reported the man but was unsure whether he was exposing himself or not.

A man reported his trailer stolen after discovering it missing from its parking space in his front lawn on Montana 40.

A woman called to say she had found multiple stolen items on her family member’s property. The woman also stated she had an 18-year-old son who was “in some trouble” and wanted law enforcement to cut him a break in exchange for her information on the stolen items. The police would not guarantee any type of amnesty in her son’s case, so the woman allegedly declined to provide any further information.

Three small dogs were reportedly seen running loose on North Cedar Drive. A nearby resident allegedly caught one that was wearing a pink hoodie and a green harness. The dog was taken to the county shelter, but officers were unable to locate the other two dogs.

A bear was reportedly spotted on Summit Avenue.

Someone reportedly stole a 5-gallon water jug full of quarters from a West Valley residence.

A black bear was reportedly seen taking a stroll down a bike path off East Lakeshore Drive.

A newspaper deliverer reported seeing an unusual number of mailboxes open while on his or her route. The person said mail was also scattered along Arena View Drive.

According to Whitefish Police, a concerned parent reported being approached by a man while picking up his children from school. The man allegedly asked him if he was Jewish and mentioned the German chancellor, saying, “Don’t worry. We’ll be back one day.” The parent requested extra patrol around the school and was advised to contact authorities if he saw the man again.

A group of transients were reportedly caught dumpster diving on a property on East First Street. The parties were counseled and moved along.

A woman was reportedly seen walking down Seventh Street West carrying a wrench under her sweater. Columbia Falls Police approached the woman who stated she was allegedly afraid a man was following and had the wrench for protection. Officers advised the woman how to get a restraining order.
