BIGFORK — With three girls finishing in the top 10 in individual play, that was more than enough to carry Bigfork to the team title at the Steve Hullett Memorial Golf Tournament on Thursday at Eagle Bend Golf Club.

Carly Stodghill shot an 89 to finish third, Isabella Santistevan carded a 91 to place fourth and Hattie Emslie was eighth with a 112.

MacKenzie Holton followed at 119 to give the Valkyries a 411 team total, 20 shots better than runner-up Missoula Loyola.

Anaconda was third.

Holton started her round with a birdie on the par 3 16th hole.

Loyola easily captured the boys title with a 316 mark, 61 shots better than second place Florence and Anaconda, both with 377.

Bigfork, 389, was fourth.

Brandon Hopkins finished 10th overall for Bigfork with his 88.

Loyola had the event’s medalist with Bucky Crippen shooting as 2-under 70 and Katie Fagg carding 82.

Bigfork will compete on April 25th in the Eureka Invitational at Indian Springs Golf Course.

“Best (performance) of the season for the girls as a team,” Bigfork coach Brett Damaskos said.

“Isabela (Santistevan) and Carly (Stodghill) have been consistently in the top four (places) for each tournament we have played. We have some depth on the girls side with Hattie (Emslie) and MacKenzie (Holton). Towards end of the season we will be in the mix for a top three finish at state.”

Damaskos said Bigfork and Loyola have gone “back and fourth so far,” in girls play.

“They have two excellent players (Katie Fagg and Isadora Tomazelli).”

He said there was also “good improvement today” from the Bigfork boys.

“Brandon Hopkins had his best round of the year,” he said.

“Good improvement from Alec Taylor as well.”

Taylor’s 95 was a season best.

“We have a lot of depth there as well,” Damaskos said of the boys.
