Flathead, Glacier netters rained out; Libby tops Ronan in softball

Wet weather continues to disrupt high school tennis play for some Western Montana teams.

Flathead and Glacier were scheduled to participate in the Western AA Conference meet on Saturday in Helena, but that was washed out a day ahead of schedule because of a 90 percent chance of rain for the event.

“We’ve played half the matches the rest of the state has played,” Glacier coach Josh Munro said so far.

“We’ll eventually get there.”

That’s if conditions improve.

Flathead and Glacier are scheduled to participate in the Missoula Invitational on Friday and Saturday. That event will feature all the Class AA teams.

All that’s left for varsity players at both schools is the second crosstown dual of the season at FVCC on April 30, followed by the Missoula schools at FVCC on May 4.

Divisional play will be held May 9-10 at FVCC and then it’s state May 16-17 in Great Falls.

Also washed out Saturday was Polson at Corvallis and Hamilton tennis.

Softball also took a hit because of the weather as Flathead at Missoula Hellgate was postponed. That Western AA matchup will be rescheduled.

Ronan’s run was courtesy of a home run by Emilie Corley in the fourth inning.

Bradeen finished the day going 3 for 4 and drove in three runs. Linsey Walker and Carvey had two RBIs each.

“They have a good pitcher,” Libby coach Dean Thompson said of Macao Jackson. “We just started to get on her in those middle innings. She throws hard, is just a sophomore, so they will have her for a couple more years.”
