Bigfork girls 3rd at Spring Swing golf tournament

MISSOULA — The Bigfork girls golf team finished a strong third at the Loyola Spring Swing tournament on Tuesday at Larchmont Golf Course.

Shelby, with three girls in the top eight places, had a winning score of 378.

Loyola, with two girls in the top three, was second at 403. Bigfork, with three girls in the top 12, was next at 416.

Katie Fagg of Loyola shot 40-39—79 for medalist honors. She won by six strokes.

Bigfork’s Isabella Santistevan, 46-51—97, and Carly Stodghill, 49-48—97, tied for sixth. Teammate Hattie Emslie, 54-54—108, was 12th.

Loyola, led by medalist Bucky Crippen, took the boys team title with a 314 total.

Crippen shot 34-35—69 for a two-shot victory.

Conrad, 339, was second and Florence, 351, third.

Brandon Hopkins had the best round for Bigfork, shooting 43-43—86 to finish in a tie for seventh place.

The next event for Bigfork is divisional competition on May 6-7 at Old Works Golf Course.
