The Montana Highway Patrol has identified the former Bigfork woman who was hit and killed by a Jeep Jan. 22 near Conrad.

Sheri Lynn Nevins, 46, who had been living in Valier, was struck and killed by a Jeep while attempting to push her vehicle off Montana 44. Nevins’ car apparently stalled and lost power, prompting her and her passengers to get out into the road and attempt to move it, according to reports.

Snowy weather, combined with slick roads and fading light, combined for hazardous driving conditions, according to an official with Pondera County.

Upon sighting the stalled vehicle, the driver of the Jeep swerved to miss the car, but struck Nevins.

The driver of the Jeep was brought in for questioning and later released without being charged.

Investigators with the Montana Highway Patrol do not think speed, alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
