Doris Jean (Burch) Hall was born March 11, 1922, in Joplin, Montana, to Roy and Edna Marie (Holmquist) Burch.

She passed away peacefully on March 7, 2019, with her son Gary and daughter- in-law Jayne at her side.

The family moved to Lewistown when she was 3 years of age. She attended schools in Heath and Lewistown, graduating Fergus High School in 1940.

She was married to Kenneth E. Hall of Lewistown in June 1944. They ranched for several years at the Eldridge Grove Ranch until moving to Stryker, Montana, in 1946. They owned and operated a resort and fish hatchery, selling trout to the Great Northern Railroad. The family then moved to Whitefish where Ken and his brother Don had a sporting goods store with the emphasis being on skiing supplies as Big Mountain was developing. Kenny also farmed around the Whitefish and Bissell areas before getting into the construction business as Halls Sand and Gravel, later branching out into the concrete business for 25 years. After retiring, they spent their winters in Arizona and summers at their home on Foy’s Lake.

She was a charter member of Bethel Baptist Church, serving her Lord and the church in many ways. She deeply loved and supported missionaries from the time she surrendered her life to Christ. She loved her Bible, which she read daily until the day she died. She also was an avid daily journaler and as a result published two books on family history.

She was preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings, her husband Ken in 2001, son Larry in 1983, daughter Vicki in 2012, and a precious granddaughter Rebekah Jayne in 2005.

She is survived by her son Gary and his wife Jayne of Columbia Falls, son Doug and his wife Kelly in Palmer, Alaska, and the pride of her life, her seven grandchildren, Colby Hall and his wife Melissa of Wasilla, Alaska, and their four children, Kristen and Justin Shields of Palmer and their two sons, Tyson and Ailsa Hall of Seattle and their three sons, Chad and Katie Hall of Stanton, Virginia, and their three children, Matt and Bethany Hall of Fort Mills, South Carolina, and their five children, Brandon Nielsen and his wife Jenni of White Salmon, Washington, and their three children, Jessica and Jeremy Cheatwood of Arizona and their five children; also, many wonderful nieces and nephews in Kalispell, Lewistown and Minnesota and a host of friends in Kalispell and Arizona.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 7, at Bethel Baptist Church.

The family suggests memorial gifts may be given to Lake Blaine Bible Camp, c/o Bethel Baptist Church, 936 4th Ave. West, Kalispell.
