'Lassie' dodged trouble to make it home safely

A border collie avoided disaster after it was seen running in and out of traffic on U.S. 93 as cars swerved to avoid it. The canine was eventually found by its owner and made it home safely.

Officers from the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office assisted a man who drove into an electric pole at the intersection of Lamb Lane and Karrow Avenue. The man said his stomach was a bit tender, possibly because of the seatbelt. The pole had significant damage.

A woman called to complain that her neighbor was shooting Tannerite, which causes loud explosions when a bullet strikes it. She said it occurs every year on the Fourth. She was told that when it is done on private property, it isn’t illegal.

After his brother called him, a man who lives out of state called authorities to report squatters on his property. There was a truck full of trash and two other vehicles on the property. One of the trucks with a trailer attached to it was allowed to be there.

Someone called about a man dressed in a burgundy T-shirt, dark gray flannel shirt and blue jeans. He was sitting in the parking lot staring at the building. He wanted to have the person moved along.

A caller thought a bear had broken a fountain at the church, but then he saw where a person was posting on social media, bragging about the offense.

A man went to the post office to get his mail, which included some checks, and he learned that it had already been picked up.

A neighbor said the man living next door allowed some people to move into a camper several months ago and there was no septic or sewer was hooked up. The matter was forwarded to the county Planning and Zoning Department.
