Neil Doten, 92 Hildegard (Stegman) Doten, 90

Neil Doten passed away on Jan. 8, 2019, at the age of 92. He was born on Dec. 6, 1926, to Roy and Alma Doten. He was raised in Solway, Minnesota, with his five siblings.

Hildegard (Stegman) Doten joined her husband in heaven on Feb. 14, 2019. She was 90 years old. Hilde was born in Bathgate, North Dakota, on March 6, 1928, to her parents William and Beata Stegman, where she was raised with her 10 siblings. Both Neil and Hilde passed away peacefully in their home in Somers.

Neil served in the Army and was stationed in Korea before returning home to marry Hilde on Valentine’s Day 1948.They were married in North Dakota and then moved to Montana where Neil worked on the Fort Peck Dam for a time before they moved to the Flathead Valley and settled in the Somers area. They had two children, Doug and Carolyn. Neil drove school bus for 42 years and owned and operated his own gravel business. Hilde was a hairdresser, drove school bus and later owned and operated a bridal shop. Both Neil and Hilde were actively involved in Eidsvold Lutheran Church. They were well-known and loved in their community and known for their hospitality to friends and strangers alike.

Neil is survived by two sisters, Eleanor Hall and Maryanne Lewis. Hilde is survived by one sister, Frieda O’Hara. They are also survived by their two children, Doug and wife Helen Doten and Carolyn and husband Wade Bryant; as well as three granddaughters, Janalynn and husband Adam Doten-Ferguson, Felisha and husband Keith Dale, and Franshesca and husband Paul Hildebrand; and also six great-grandchildren, Aaron and Meilani Doten-Ferguson, Grady and Colden Dale, and Maryn and Edyn Hildebrand. Neil and Hilde were greatly loved and will be deeply missed.

Join us in a celebration of both of their lives being held at 1 p.m. on June 8 at Eidsvold Lutheran Church, Somers on June 8.
