Trump and the moral decay of democracy

World War III? Think it’s impossible? I’m sure that‘s what they thought in the 30s. The insanity of it all is that we’ve gone stupid and allowed the same ugly beast to embed in the fabric of our society. Color the beast green for greed. We‘re dropping our allies that have helped us keep the world on its axis instead of imploding. We’re replacing them with murderous dictators and tyrants who enslave, torture, and kill their own people. We sell weapons to people who kill journalists and dismember them to hide the truth of what goes on in their regime. As long as money’s involved, we’re willing to sell our soul. All it takes to curry favor with our president is stroke his narcissistic ego.

Then it helps to offer to screw with our most precious right; an honest election.

You can also color the beast red for hate and divisiveness. You see it spreading throughout the world trying to kill democracy wherever it lives. Hate groups now have the wind to their backs with a nod from the president, offering to pay charges for anyone that would beat up his opponents. First thing out of the gate his campaign was filled with lies and hate aimed at fellow Republican candidates and Hillary.

The “brilliant genius,” as he likes to characterize himself, doesn’t understand his middle school type bullying tactics used to bludgeon opponents standing in the way of his power grab is on tape. The childish name calling, lies is all he has. We’ve all heard him asking Putin, on tape, to interfere with our election (treason?). We heard him defend Putin, Kim and the Saudi prince against our Justice Department. Does anyone remember all but a few of the terrorists on 9/11 were Saudis? We’ve heard for three and a half years how he admires the cruelest, most immoral despots in the world. We see him trying to destroy anything the Constitution put in place to check the president from becoming one of those democracy-killing tyrants. Is that what you want for your children and grandchildren?

Our great country was originally founded in a search for religious freedom , the right to not be forced to follow someone else’s beliefs. That’s a different kind of war, and just as dangerous. Now, the religious zealots are trying to force their ideas of a God on the world. Jesus said love is the greatest commandment. That’s the antithesis of hate; hate of anyone that looks different, thinks different, loves different. Hate is jealousy, needing to feel better-than, fear, need to destroy what you don’t understand. It’s locking suffering families, babies in cages, fouling the soul of the country.

McConnell, Graham, Nunis, Jordan; and all others who are shoring up this behavior, you may by thinking you’re getting near the end of your run and why fight for the honor of our country. This will be the legacy you’re leaving your descendants for eternity? Are you OK with aiding and abetting in the moral decay of the greatest Democracy on earth?
