Karen Jean Campo, 57

Karen Jean Campo, 57, of Medina, Ohio, passed away on Feb. 26, 2019, with family by her side after battling a resurgence of breast cancer.

She was born to Jane Anderson and James Aker on April 5, 1961, in Kalispell. Karen graduated from Flathead High School and went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in music in 1983 from the University of Montana and her master’s degree in piano performance in 1985 from Western Michigan University.

She was married to Mark John Campo in 1985 and is survived by her children, Andra (Bryan) Dennis and Jack (Brianna) Campo, grandson, Asher Campo and her siblings, Jim (Sonja) and Robin (Jeff).

Karen was an accomplished pianist for over 50 years. She passed her love and dedication of music to hundreds of students over the course of 34 years. In addition to her love of teaching, Karen was known as a master crafter and created many beautiful things. While she enjoyed crafting and piano, family was her main focus. She loved and was immensely proud of her family. She leaves behind a legacy of love and grace.

A visitation to honor Karen will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. today, March 1, at the Waite & Son Funeral Home, Brunswick Chapel, 3300 Center Road, Brunswick, OH 44212. A celebration of Karen’s life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, at Heartland Community Church, 3400 Weymouth Road, Medina, OH 44256.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ohio Music Teachers Association, or Resurrection Church, 126 North Pardee St., Wadsworth, OH 44281.
