A 120-unit apartment project near Gateway Community Center is the focus of a public hearing before the Kalispell City Council during its regular meeting tonight.

Husky Partners, LLC, is asking for a conditional-use permit for five buildings with 24 units each, plus a clubhouse. The multifamily buildings will be three stories and 43 feet tall, with eight units per floor. The 4.2 acres of land for the project is currently asphalt parking area and undeveloped grasslands to the north and northwest of Gateway Community Center.

Two comments were offered during a Planning Board public hearing on the project on Feb. 12. One speaker was concerned about increased traffic, and the other supported the plan as it adds housing to the city.

Also to be discussed during Monday’s council meeting is a consent-agenda item on issues related to parking, including removing the two-hour parking designation in certain areas of downtown and an amendment to parking-permit codes for taxis, buses and delivery vehicles.

A first reading of amendments to various items within Kalispell zoning standards is also on the agenda.

The council meets at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 201 First Ave. E.
