Mary R. Severns, 87

Mary R. Severns, 87, of Great Falls, left this world peacefully on Monday, Oct. 28, 2019, surrounded by her family.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at Christ United Methodist Church in Great Falls.

Mary William Royce was born in Ithaca, New York, on April 11, 1932. She graduated from Cornell University in 1953 and married Jack Severns of El Paso, Texas. After living briefly in Texas while Jack attended Divinity School, they resided in Belt, Kalispell, Billings and Great Falls. They divorced in 1990 after having three children, Robin Severns of Menlo Park, California, Jennifer Severns of Tacoma, Washington, and Timothy Severns of Spokane.

The last 30 years of her life were spent with caring partner, Harry L. Geer.

Mary was a special education teacher in the Great Falls Public Schools from 1974 to 1992. At the time of her death she was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, and was a 69-year member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.

Mary is survived by her first husband, Jack Severns, of Des Moines, Iowa; her three children, Robin Severns of Menlo Park, California, Jennifer Severns of Tacoma, and Timothy Severns of Spokane; six grandchildren, her sister, Ellen Nacinovich; her brother, Charles Royce; and by Harry L. Geer, her caring partner of 30 years.
