Dog owner seeks hefty reimbursement

A dog owner paid $10,000 for multiple surgeries after his dog was hit by a car. He called the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office to see how he could get the driver to pay him back for the expenses, but the person who responded said there was nothing he could do by county ordinance.

Someone threatened to kill a man “and slit his throat.” This was apparently not the first time this threat had been made, and the Sheriff’s Office advised the threatened man to block the phone number.

A man apparently hit a tree with his car in Evergreen, then walked around a field with a flashlight. The person who reported the incident also heard “lots of yelling.” Medical personnel responded to the situation.

Someone reported three people for drinking alcohol on a bridge and “throwing beer bottles.” The caller had a lot of details about one of the drinkers, noting he had glasses, a ski cap and a beard, but he had no description of the woman with him and couldn’t determine the gender of the third person.

A doe was spotted in the middle of a road, but the person who noticed it wasn’t sure “if the deer [was] injured or [was] just lying there.”

The owner of an auto body business refused to work on a Canadian’s vehicle.

A man sold his vehicle but left certain items in it. He asked the car purchaser to give them back, and when he hadn’t received them he wanted to report them as stolen.

Someone wanted law enforcement to check on a dog barking in a car. The caller may have been unfamiliar with dogs, because he was “concerned because it was barking.” The Sheriff’s Office determined it was an “unfounded cruelty call.”

Someone was concerned a damaged, spray-painted car in a field had been stolen, but the Sheriff’s Office investigated and found no indication the car was stolen.

A mother felt her daughter was being blackmailed, but she didn’t want to file a report and the daughter didn’t answer any of the officer’s calls.

A woman wanted a report from a year ago about a dog that killed a chicken.

A vehicle was broken into and a computer was stolen while the owner “was eating breakfast [that] morning.”

A driver said he was travellng behind someone who kept “turning off his headlights when vehicles [came] by.”

A homeowner who had been experiencing harassment issues heard someone try to open his back door, so he “opened the door with a loaded gun.” He didn’t see anyone and asked law enforcement to do an extra patrol in the area.
