Owen (Bud) Olson, 82

| November 28, 2019 8:31 PM

Owen (Bud) Olson passed away on Nov. 22, 2019 at the age of 82.

He was born and raised in Whitefish. He spent four years in the Army as a paratrooper and was undefeated on the local boxing team.

He got his B.S. degree from Montana State University in Electronic Engineering and his Master’s degree from San Francisco University. Right out of college, he got a job with Lockheed, which moved him all over. After retiring from Lockheed he moved back to his beloved Montana, settling in Columbia Falls.

Bud was very active and loved sports — football, baseball, boxing, hiking, skiing and especially soccer (playing, coaching and refereeing). He loved to hunt, fish, camp and spend time with his family and play bridge with his friends.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carol, his daughter and her husband, Debbie and Vic Dereito, his son, Mike Olson, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

No services are planned at this time.
