In 1974, he moved his family to Kila to give them a better life. There he continued his masonry craftsmanship through the Flathead Valley, which includes Grouse Mountain Lodge, Outlaw Inn and the Canadian Visitor Center at West Glacier Park, and many custom homes there. They remained in the Flathead Valley until 2015, when they relocated to Havre.

Darvin enjoyed bowling, which included a tournament perfect game of 300, golfing, campfires, cribbage, fishing and hunting where he tagged his trophy Boone & Crocket Montana Mule Deer. Darvin was a family man and a born-again Christian who loved the Lord.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Lucille Chambliss, and all but one of his siblings.
