Salvation Army offers food boxes to families in need
The Salvation Army of Kalispell, serving the Flathead Valley, will provide 500 food boxes to local families at a drive-through distribution event on Saturday, Aug. 22.
The event will be held from 8 a.m. to noon at the Salvation Army, 110 Bountiful Drive, Kalispell (or until all boxes are distributed).
The food boxes are for anyone who needs one. Families and individuals from across the area are invited to come through the drive-through line and receive a free box of food. There are no eligibility requirements or restrictions for receiving a box. The distribution event will be a contactless; drivers can simply pull up and a volunteer will place the box in their vehicle. Boxes will be given on a first-come, first-served basis.
Each food box has an approximate value of $30 and contains non-perishable food such as rice, canned fruit and vegetables, cereal and shelf-stable protein.
“The Salvation Army has collected this food during recent food drives throughout the area,” said Maj. Larry J. Feist, Corps officer for the Salvation Army in Kalispell. “We are humbled and gratified by the generosity we’ve received from the community – together – we’re better.”
This distribution event is an extension of the Salvation Army’s ongoing food box distribution. The Salvation Army has a long tradition of providing food to local families.
Monetary donations are also needed and will be used to continue Salvation Army services throughout the Flathead.
