Surprise visit goes awry

Someone on Zimmerman Road in Kalispell reportedly told Flathead County Sheriff’s Office there was an intruder knocking at his bedroom door and holding his parents hostage. They heard a loud “Hello,” and thought the man was trying to get their mother to say things to get them to come out. Someone, possibly the caller, then climbed out the window. The incident, however, may have been a misunderstanding involving the caller’s family trying to keep a secret about a relative coming to visit.

A man’s day was darkened on Sunny Lane in Columbia Falls when he reportedly returned home to find a shotgun shell on his doorstep and a padlock on his shed. He told deputies he was the caretaker of a property at a woman’s request and believed her child didn’t want him there and left the shell as a threat.

A Halfmoon Road resident in Columbia Falls reportedly said his home had fictiously been listed for rent on Craigslist for more than a year and was concerned people were getting scammed out of money. He reportedly contacted Craigslist about it, but they wouldn’t remove it. He was advised to report the issue to the FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center, and if necessary, pursue civil action to have the listing removed.

A man allegedly purchased a puppy from someone on Ashley Meadows in Kalispell and learned it had a broken leg and was trying to get his money back from the seller without much luck. He was advised to seek legal counsel to resolve the issue in civil court if necessary.

Two men and two women appeared to someone to be drawing on a map on the south side of the dam. Deputies checked for graffiti but found none. A large sign, however, did have extensive etchings and graffiti that appeared to have been done over a long period of time.

Someone in Somers was having issues with an ex who showed up and tried to break in. The ex had reportedly assaulted the person in the past. Extra patrol was provided.

A Kalispell woman wanted to talk to officers about what she could do about an issue with her mother’s allegedly aggressive boyfriend after he threw items at her and chased her out of the house. Contact was made and she decided not to pursue charges.

A woman walking on U.S. 93 in Somers reportedly heard a voice possibly a person yelling for help or what sounded like an angry man and a pipe being banged. Walking back, she no longer heard a voice. Officers didn’t either when driving around the area.

People were allegedly going up to the backdoor of a Ponderosa Lane business in Kalispell, setting off the alarm, and walked away but returned only to set it off again.
