Whitefish site tests those without COVID-19 symptoms
The Flathead Community Health Center, in partnership with the city of Whitefish, has established a drive-up site where individuals who are not exhibiting symptoms of a respiratory illness can be tested for COVID-19.
The site is located in the Whitefish High School parking lot and individuals can be tested Thursdays from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. or Fridays from 7 a.m. to noon. People will be tested on a first-come, first-served basis and according to a press release, testing is completely free.
The site is designed to cater to workers who interact with customers regularly, but anyone who is not exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms who wishes to be tested may participate.
According to Whitefish City Manager Dana Smith, if individuals looking to be tested actually have symptoms, they will be asked to contact their primary health-care provider so they may be tested elsewhere. Smith added that the health center and city hope to have the site up and running through most of the summer, depending on case fluctuation.
