Montana reported 23 new cases of covid-19 on Saturday, including one in Flathead County.

Including the new Flathead case — a man in his 20s — the county reported 10 active cases.

Eight of the new cases reported Saturday were in Gallatin County. Five were in Yellowstone, three in Missoula, and one each in Carbon, Cascade, Glacier, Granite, Lewis and Clark and Park counties.

Statewide there were 226 active covid-19 cases on Saturday, including nine hospitalizations.

To date, Montana has tallied 852 cases, including 604 recoveries. Twenty-two people have died from the virus.

The state has conducted 81,247 tests, including 1,086 on Friday.

For most people, the new coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks. For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia, and death. The vast majority of people recover.
