Faye E. Shrode, 81

Faye E. Shrode, 81, of Kalispell, passed away unexpectedly at Kalispell Regional Medical Center on Monday, March 2, 2020.

A native Montanan, Faye was born in Malta and graduated from Whitefish High School. After spending several years in Western Kentucky, the mountains called her back to Montana. She loved spending time outside gardening, enjoying the scenery of the Flathead Valley and frequent trips to Hawaii. Faye’s greatest love was children. Over the past 19 years and up until her passing, she cared for children in her home. While she tried to “retire,” she was never able to be without little ones to care for.

Faye was preceded in death by her parents, Leone Martinson, Russell Walters and her eldest son, Jay Shrode III.

She is survived by her son, Scott (Cheryl) of Newburgh, Indiana; and daughter, Leslie Hayden (Clif) of Whitefish; daughter-in-law, Karen Shrode, of Gallatin Tennessee; five grandchildren; and sisters, Janet Martinson of Whitefish and Mary Layton of Zanesville, Ohio.

A celebration of Faye’s life will be held today, March 6 at 2 p.m., at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home in Kalispell.
