Salvation Army in Kalispell plans virtual food drive
The Salvation Army in Kalispell will host a virtual food drive May 11–16 to collect money to purchase items for its food bank. The donations will be used to purchase food for the grocery boxes given to local families every week.
“We are seeing an increased need at our food bank in Kalispell,” said Maj. Larry Feist, Corps Officer. “The guests we regularly serve are needing more items from us, and many new guests are coming to us.”
In March, the Salvation Army distributed hundreds of hot meals and grocery boxes in Kalispell, about a 20% increase in neighbors needing assistance. A food box valued at $30 will feed a family of four for about three days, including bread, protein, pasta/rice, and more.
The Virtual Community Food Drive will be held during National Salvation Army Week. Donations can be made in the following ways:
• Online at www.give-nw.salvationarmy.org/campaign/Kalispell-Virtual-Food-Drive/c284259
• Call Capt. Julie Feist at 406-257-4357 Ext. 363
• Donate in person at The Salvation Army, 110 Bountiful Drive, Kalispell – Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Salvation Army has modified its operations for distributing meals and food bags to ensure health and safety of guests, volunteers and staff. Now, the hot meals and grocery boxes and food bags are prepacked by staff or volunteers and handed to the guest at the front door of the building.
