Young Professionals group hosts online commissioner candidate forum

| May 12, 2020 12:31 PM

Flathead Area Young Professionals, a development group for young professionals ages 21 to 39, is hosting a virtual candidate forum for the vacant Flathead County commissioner race from 8 to 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 13. The group is opening this interactive opportunity for all voters in Flathead County.

The virtual discussion will feature all four candidates in the race for the open commissioner seat: Republicans Tony Brockman, Brad Abell and Elliot Adams, and Democrat Kristen Larson. The are vying for the District 1 commissioner seat held by Phil Mitchell, who is not seeking re-election.

Additionally, Flathead County Election Administrator Monica Eisenzimer will give a brief overview of how this year’s election will be different with a review of vote-by-mail ballots and important timelines.

“With coronavirus disrupting the chances for voters to hear from each candidate side-by-side this year, we are excited to be able to present this viewing opportunity for all interested voters in Flathead County, not just young professionals,” said Kate Lufkin, director of education and workforce development for the Kalispell Chamber and staff-lead for the Flathead Area Young Professionals, which is a brand of the Kalispell Chamber.

Attendees can register for the event through www.kalispellchamber.com, or view the forum live on the Chamber’s Facebook page.
