Bigfork Children’s Theatre auditions for ‘Elf’

| November 12, 2020 12:00 AM

The Bigfork Playhouse Children’s Theatre invites students in grades three through 12 to audition for its annual Christmas production. This year the company is presenting “Elf the Musical.”

Buddy the elf is raised unaware that he is actually a human, until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa's permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. Faced with the harsh reality that his father is on the naughty list and that his half brother doesn't even believe in Santa, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas.

Auditions will be held at the Bigfork Playhouse Children’s Theatre Afterschool Arts Center, 833 Grand Ave., Tuesday, Nov. 17 — 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. for grades three and four; 5:30 to 6:30 for grades five through seven; and 6:30 to 8 pm. for grades eight through 12. No adults will participate this year due to COVID-19 restrictions and limited cast size.

It costs nothing to audition. There is a $50 fee to participate in the production if cast. Prepare a 30-second monologue or selection from another play or book, and plan to learn and sing something. If you don’t have experience or can’t find something to prepare, materials will be provided.

Tentative rehearsal schedules will be announced at the auditions. Performances are Dec. 10, 11, 12, 18 and 19.

Help is also needed with technical assistance for the production. Parental and student assistance is welcome. For more information email bpct@bigforksummerplayhouse.com
