FHS Acting 2 students presents ‘Monologue Showcase’

| November 12, 2020 12:00 AM

The Flathead High School Theatre Department’s Acting 2 class will present “Monologue Showcase” Nov. 19 and 20 at 6:27 p.m. in the David M. Hashley Theatre at FHS.

To maintain safe social distancing, seating will be very limited and tickets will only be released to the public at the door if still available. All tickets are $5.

“We have dramatically cut our audience to 30% capacity,” said director of Flathead High School Theatre Wendy Putzler. “We are limiting advanced ticket sales to two tickets per participating student for each performance. If extra tickets are available, we will offer any remaining tickets up to general admission at 6:15 p.m. each night. In addition, all audience members will be required to wear a mask. Anyone not wearing a mask will be asked to leave the performance. “Monologue Showcase” features 13 monologues and five IB solo theater performances from a variety of media, genres and authors — from Shakespeare’s classics to “Dr. Who” and “The Wizard of Oz.”

“This class is entirely composed of upper classmen, which is rare for Acting 2, said Liz Sykora, director of the showcase and Acting 2 instructor. “All of these students have theatre experience and many of them you have seen in our shows.”

Cast members will remain on stage for the entire show, masked and socially distanced ... getting to watch their peers perform,” Sykora said. “Then, when it's their turn, they will unmask and perform in the acting space which is six feet away from the audience.

Performers include Rylee Burkhart, Kaylana Pengelly, Lydia Wood, Daniel Edelen, Sean Struble, Shelbie Guckenberg, Ben Hudson, James Francis, Serena Keil-Hoye, Domminik Griffith, Alan Taylor, Faith Cheff, Ella McGuffie, Rebekah Hopp, John Owens, Kay Gibbs and Tyler Williamson.

The technical crew includes Carson Robison, Seda Ramsay, Emmerson Kaseman, Lydia Wood, Rebekah Hopp, Shelbie Guckenberg, Domminick Griffith and Isabelle James.
