Kalispell community-needs public hearing Thursday
The city of Kalispell will hold a virtual public hearing to learn about community development needs at 1 p.m., on Nov. 19 via Zoom videoconference.
The purpose of this hearing is to hear from community residents, especially low/moderate income residents, regarding community development needs and priorities for economic development, housing and neighborhood revitalization and public facilities. This input will help determine how to spend Community Development Block Grant funds administered to local governments by the state Department of Commerce. The CDBG program provides funding for housing, economic development, public facilities, public infrastructure, and planning activities, with the principal purpose of benefiting low/moderate income persons. The hearing will provide further information about the CDBG program and will allow for citizen participation in the development of any proposed grant applications.
During the public hearing, everyone will be given the opportunity to express their opinions regarding community needs and the type of projects that should be considered. Comments may be given orally at the virtual hearing or by mail to City of Kalispell Development Services, 201 1st Avenue East, Kalispell, Montana 59901 or by email to CDBG@kalispell.com before 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov.19, 2020.
The event is in collaboration with Flathead County, NeighborWorks Montana, Northwest Montana Community Land Trust, Inc., Samaritan House, Inc., Community Action Partnership of Northwest Montana, Montana West Economic Development, and Kalispell Regional Healthcare. To register for the hearing, contact the City of Kalispell Development Services Department by email at CDBG@kalispell.com or by phone at 406-758-7738.
