Daniel ‘Danny’ Brian Rotter, 58

| November 21, 2020 12:00 AM

Danny died unexpectedly in his home in Kalispell on Nov. 6, 2020.

He was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, on Jan.20, 1962. As a boy Danny was sweet and kind and would sign his homemade cards to his parents “Love, Danny Rotter,” as if they didn’t know his last name! In school he dabbled in T-ball, baseball and hockey and graduated in 1981.

He attended St. Paul T.V.I. in 1988 and achieved a certificate in carpentry. He then began a career in building maintenance and started honing his skills as a jack-of all-trades.

But his heart’s desire was always out boating and fishing the waterways of Minnesota with family and friends.

In about 2001 Danny decided to relocate to Montana, near his sisters in Kalispell. He worked again in building maintenance and for a time at a hardware store but relied heavily on his handyman skills. He loved the mountains and marveled at how close to town he could find beautiful rivers and streams to fish.

Although Danny’s struggles were many, he had the uncanny ability to hold our love for him close to his heart in all kinds of weather.

He was preceded in death by his beloved father James Arthur Rotter, brother James “Jimmy” Rotter, and nephew James Cherington Price. He is survived by his mother, Mary Lou Rotter; sisters, Stephanie Maroney (Jeff Haven) and Michelle Anderson (Richard); niece, Elizabeth “Lizzy” Price; great-nieces, Clarissa Becker and Sophia Price; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Rest in peace beloved son, brother, uncle and friend and give our love to Dad, Jimmy and James.

Cremation has taken place. No service is planned but a small family gathering will be held in the spring and, of course, it will be by a river.
