Wolfpack Theatre stages ‘Robin Hood’ in outdoor evening venue

The Wolfpack Theatre Company at Glacier High School has found a way to gather and create the magical experience of live theater with its upcoming production of “The Heart of Robin Hood.”

After a brainstorming session, the staff of the Wolfpack Theatre Company agreed to host their first production of the school year, “The Heart of Robin Hood,” in an outdoor venue,” Wolfpack Theatre Company Director Ivanna Fritz said.

The “Heart of Robin Hood” will be performed Sept. 23, 24 and 26 at 6:33 p.m. on a portable stage on the east lawn of Glacier High School. Seating for this production is limited. Tickets are pre-sale only, available for $5 at the GHS Main Office and Photo Video Plus. Audience members should bring a blanket or lawn chair and wear a mask. Adhering to safe social distancing practices set by school district guidelines has been at the forefront of the entire production process.

“The Heart of Robin Hood” is a unique twist on the well-known legend of Robin Hood.

The malicious Prince John is terrorizing the countryside, raising taxes for his rebellion against King Richard, while Robin Hood and his band of outlaws steal from the rich — but haven't figured out the “give to the poor” part just yet. To the rescue comes the sword-wielding, sharp-tongued Maid Marion, who sets out to show Robin and his band there can be honor among thieves. Marion steps up to protect the poor and convince Robin to listen to his heart and change for good, if they are to save the country.

“At a surface level, it's about Robin Hood and Marion figuring out who they are as humans,” the show’s director Sara K. Menssen said. “On a deeper level it carries a message that seems relevant in today's world: Treat people with kindness and you will have no regrets.

“While there are some excellent stage combat sequences, there are also some really moving moments between characters. I think witnessing these things at dusk, possibly under the first evening stars, will be something really special.”

GHS seniors Sydney Fletcher is the show’s fight captain and Ashely Bruce is music coordinator.

The cast includes Asher Robinson, Sydney Barcus, Yayne Myers, Bryce Crane, JP Koch-Ford, Derek Smith, Ashley Bruce, Alexa Wilton, Dresden Allred, Ty Espeseth, Gabrielle Cantrell Musson, Eleanor Cummings, Kaelin Holt, Zach Hall, Erik Kalvig, Sydney Fletcher, Fiona Fuller, Toben Mallo, Kelsea Bemis, Elise Pitts, Zach Lapke and Rileigh Sperry.

The stage, sound and lighting crew are Elise Plum, Mac Adkins, Elle Plum, Kjell Sandler, Ellison Eaton, Laira Hill, Maeve Kintzler, Ivey Frescas, Bridgett Meskis, Moira Macfarlane, Naomi Hill, Morgan Mahon, Morgan Smith, Chesney Wheeler, Jacob Inabnit and Caleb Bernhardt.
