Todd Dowen, 59

Todd Dowen passed away suddenly on Feb. 18, 2021, from a massive heart attack.

Todd was born in Bozeman,on Oct. 1, 1961. He was raised in Havre, and later in Kalispell. Todd graduated from Flathead High School in 1980. In the fall he left for Minneapolis where he attended broadcasting school at Brown Institute. He spent 30 years in the radio broadcasting industry, most recently with Bee Broadcasting. Sports was a big part of his life and he was “The Voice of the Braves and Bravettes for 25 years. He also broadcasted The Lakers baseball for many years. Todd loved all the athletes and enjoyed their accomplishments as though they were his children. Todd served in the National Guard and loved his country, as well as the great state of Montana. He was currently employed by Assurant Insurance Company, a worldwide company.

Todd married Terri Shields from Whitefish and they were happily married for 37 years. No children were born to this union, but they had many cats and dogs and provided a loving home for many a stray. These were their “Kids.” Terri was his assistant for the broadcasting of many games, running the “Board.”

Todd completed his bucket list, which included: a Rose Bowl game and parade, a Notre Dame game in Notre Dame, Indiana, trips to Arizona, and finally he and Terri went to Hawaii to tour the Pearl Harbor Memorial.

Todd is survived by his wife Terri, his parents Jim and Darlene, and his sister Pam Sundene, along with her husband Eric Sundene and their son Mitchell. He had many additional relatives and friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, Aug. 12, at Snowline Acres from 5 until 8 p.m.

Todd, you will never be forgotten and we will all hold you close within our hearts. There you will remain to walk and guide us through our lives. Until we meet again, we love you.
