Law roundup: Pole damage causes ruckus in Whitefish

A caller to the Whitefish Police Department reported a vehicle drove across his yard and took out a crosswalk pole. Then the driver’s father called to report his son was cut off by another driver. It resulted in the younger person running over the pole.

Someone reported a $100 counterfeit bill being passed at an area business.

A woman said an employee took a swing at her and connected. Apparently the person had just been fired and then threw the punch as they left the restaurant.

An older fellow was found on the ground and the caller wasn’t sure if he had fallen. An officer arrived and determined the man was OK.

A pharmacy employee called 911 when an older gentleman became upset when he was told he had to pay for his prescription medicine. He did calm down, got his pills and went on his way.

Someone called after seeing a black, full-size pickup truck with a trailer backed up to a building late at night. An officer responded to the scene — the new gas station — and determined everything was fine.

An accidental 911 call by a young boy was confirmed by his mother.

Someone reported a drunk man picking up trash while stumbling about the premises.

When a woman disrupted a man’s video game experience, he became verbally hostile before he grabbed her arm and tried to drag her out of the house.

A hotel manager said there were two disruptive and drunk guests being loud in their room. He contacted the partiers without success in getting them to quiet down, but a police officer reported the couple would tone it down.

Someone reported a gray sports car driving down the wrong side of the road at a high rate of speed.

A woman went to the police station and said her phone was taken when her boyfriend was arrested. She wasn’t sure if he still had it or it was part of the evidence, but she wants to get it back.

A hotel employee reported a guest from Stevensville had left a handgun in a safe in the room after checking out. An officer picked it up to hold for safekeeping until the firearm could be retrieved.

A property owner called 911 after a bicyclist rode past and yelled at him. He was concerned the teen would return.

A house cleaner was trying to adjust the volume on the phone when it dialed 911. There was no emergency.

Someone said a friend of hers was spreading rumors about their relationship and wanted advice on how to handle it.

A caller reported a running vehicle was parked near his residence and he was concerned. An officer learned a man had stopped to take a nap and was fine.

A man had screamed and yelled at hospital staff, but he left soon after and no action was needed.

Both parties were counseled after a conflict between a dog owner and another person arose out of the canine being in the common area.

Someone reported a homeless person was going from bar to bar. The caller said the person was a mess and had nowhere to go.
