WTC stages razor-sharp, witty drama

| April 15, 2021 12:00 AM

The Whitefish Theatre Co. presents the mysterious drama “Our Mother’s Brief Affair” April 23 and 24, with two ways to view the show each night: limited, socially-distant seating at 7:30 p.m. at the O’Shaughnessy Center (doors open 7 p.m.), or online in a pre-recorded version anytime April 23 and 24.

On the verge of death for the umpteenth time, Anna makes a shocking confession to her grown children — an affair from her past. While her children try to separate fact from fiction, Anna fights for a legacy she can be proud of.

With razor-sharp wit and extraordinary insight, “Our Mother’s Brief Affair” considers the sweeping, surprising impact of indiscretions both large and small.

“This play is so intriguing because it highlights a certain messy zone between personal convictions and loving another, director Nick Rapp said, “showcasing how our own prejudices, righteous or otherwise, can stand in the way … even with those we’re supposed to love the most.”

Cast members include Mona Charles Sarah Bell, Matt Strool and Tony Hernandez. “Mona and Tony are spellbinding as secret lovers,” says Rapp.

As a Black Curtain production, there will minimal staging, no set or props, and actors may reference their scripts. Masks are required at all times while inside the O’Shaughnessy Center, including during the performance.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students for all shows and can be purchased at the box office, 1 Central Ave. in Whitefish, or by calling 862-5371. Box office hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and one hour before a performance.
