James A. Suek, 90

James A. Suek, 90, died of pneumonia Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2021, in Kalispell.

James “Jim” was born Jan. 28, 1931, in Great Falls. He was raised in Dutton and graduated from high school there in 1949. After graduation, Jim served in the Air Force and then joined the Montana Air National Guard until his honorable discharge in 1955. Upon his return to Dutton, he worked at the Farmer’s Mercantile until 1966, when he moved his family to Conrad. In Conrad, Jim worked for Cenex for 25 years, first as a truck driver delivering propane, and then finishing his Cenex career as the manager of the Conrad propane plant.

He married Barbara Fleshman in Dutton in 1953. After raising their family together in Conrad, Jim and Barbara moved to Lincoln where they enjoyed their retirement together. Jim was an avid sports fan. He also enjoyed bowling, snowmobiling, fishing, hunting, camping and following his children’s, grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s sports and activities.

Jim’s wife preceded him in death in 2004, as well as two children, Mark Suek (1964) and James R. Suek (2014).

Survivors include his daughters, Renee (Lynn) Nordahl of Missoula and Jamie (Jason) Guice of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; sons, Paul Suek (spouse Darcee Trumbo Suek deceased May 2021) of Kalispell, Mike (Mitzi) Suek of Windsor, Colorado, and Phil (Julie) Suek of Olympia, Washington; sisters, Donna Sanders and Ann Ramsey of Great Falls; brother, Bob (Carol) Suek, of Dutton; 11 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

A graveside memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, at the Dutton Cemetery with a reception to follow.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Darlington Cremation and Burial Services in Kalispell.
