Nelbardine 'Nell' L. Dunn, 97

| August 15, 2021 12:00 AM

Nelbardine “Nell” L. Dunn, 97, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, July 31, 2021.

Nell was born on Aug. 21, 1923, in Beatrice, Nebraska, daughter of the late Merrill C. and Nellie May Crane Jones.

Nell was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Beryle “B” W. Dunn. Since losing him to Alzheimer’s in 2003, she was certain they would be reunited one day, her cold fingers once again warmed by his hands holding hers.

She is proudly survived by her twin daughter and son, Betty Jean and William Joseph, whom she brought into this world in 1946, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

As a military wife, she lived in or visited nearly all 50 states, and could recall her travels in vivid detail. In their golden years, she and Beryle retired to their beloved house on Flathead Lake and enjoyed being snowbirds. Hitting the road in their Winnebago, they wintered in California and Texas, golfing all day and square dancing all night, and making many lifelong friends along the way.

Always dedicated to the service of others, she was a tireless volunteer throughout her life, serving her church communities in numerous capacities, and working at the Surgery Information Desk at Kalispell Regional Hospital for nearly 20 years, and was heartbroken when she had to step down from her post at age 95.

She lived a full and wonderful life with few regrets, led by her unwavering belief in and close personal relationship with the Lord. Her Bible lay open on her breakfast table every morning, next to her cup of coffee and the crossword. She was a patient listener, and always knew just what advice someone needed to hear in order to help them through a difficult time.

Nell was adored by all who knew her, touching countless lives with her compassionate counsel and wisdom, and she will be greatly missed.

A celebration of life and reception will be held on Saturday, Aug. 21, at 2 p.m. at Aletheia Christian Fellowship, 330 North Somers Road, Kalispell, MT 59901. Memorials can be made to the same.
