Browning man admits to child sex crimes
A Browning man accused of sexually abusing two children on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation admitted to the offenses Tuesday.
Jonathan Cadotte, 60, pleaded guilty to aggravated sexual abuse and aggravated sexual abuse of a child in U.S. District Court.
Federal prosecutors said Cadotte sexually abused one girl from about September 2019 to September 2020, and a second girl younger 12 from 1993 to about 1998, both in the Browning area. The victims were identified as Jane Doe 1 and Jane Doe 2.
Judge Brian Morris ordered that Cadotte remain in custody pending sentencing on Dec. 8. Cadotte faces a maximum sentence of life in prison, a $250,000 fine and at least five years of supervised release.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Kalah Paisley is prosecuting the case, which was investigated by the FBI, the Bureau of Indian Affairs and Blackfeet Law Enforcement Services.
