Bigfork, Eureka each get 3 All-State picks

Three players from runner-up Bigfork and three more from semifinalist Eureka were named All-State for Class B football, in voting by Western B coaches.

Two-way lineman Braeden Guse, running back Levi Taylor and linebacker Bryce Gilliard were selected from the Vikings, who lost in the State B title game to Florence on Nov. 20.

For Eureka the selections are: two-way lineman Johnny Fehr, linebacker Danny Dunn and Caleb Utter.

Florence, which capped an unbeaten season with its first football championship since 1977, had eight All-State selections including junior quarterback Patrick Duchien.

Taylor was Bigfork’s leading rusher, gaining 889 yards and scoring nine touchdowns. Gilliard was the Vikings’ top tackler with 124 stops, 11 for losses. Guse made 54 stops on the interior, including five for losses.

Dunn made 86 tackles, eight for losses, and seven interceptions for the 10-3 Lions. He was also their leading receiver. Fehr was credited with 15.5 sacks for Eureka. Utter, the Lions junior quarterback, was also their top tackler with 93 stops, including 11 for losses. He was selected All-State at Athlete: at QB he threw for 949 yards and ran for 1,104.

In all, eight Bigfork players received either first- or second-team all-Western B honors, several of them on both sides of the ball; Eureka had six players selected.
