The Woodlands community presents a choral Christmas concert

| December 11, 2021 12:00 AM

“Sing We Now of Christmas” is the theme of the December Woodlands concert, featuring the Kalispell’s Woodlands Choir and the Treasure State Chorale. Treasure State Chorale is an adult auditioned choral ensemble based in Missoula. Both choirs are under the direction of Phil Harris, with accompanist Francine Harris.

The concert will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11. The Woodlands is located in Kalispell directly behind Snappy Sporting Goods and the old Shopko.

Programming includes a wide variety of choral music, all centered on a Christmas theme. There are songs showcasing the lighter side of the holidays, with some familiar and some not so familiar music of the season — from decorating the house and taking a ride on a Russian sleigh to hearing the bells ring and wishing friends and family the merriest of Christmases.

The concert continues with the choirs presenting the Christmas story in song. With the Nativity as the main theme, music from Austria, Germany, France, Wales, Russia, Italy and the United States round out the program representative of the various periods of composition from the Baroque period to contemporary styles. Several soloists will be featured, along with the resounding hymn, “Gloria In Excelsis Deo.” There will also be a guitar prelude to the concert presented by Andy Huppert.

Note the date and time of this concert is different from other Woodlands concerts this season. There is no admission charge and doors will open to the public at 12:45 p.m. Masks are welcome.
