Robert Joe ‘Bob’ Komenda, 62

| December 12, 2021 12:00 AM

Robert Joe “Bob” Komenda passed away suddenly at his home in Marion on Nov. 22, 2021.

Bob was born March 1, 1959, in Whitefish to Donald and Merle (Kinniburgh) Komenda. Bob grew up in Swan Lake and Marion. He graduated from Flathead High School in 1977.

After high school, Bob worked for a tire shop, and then for the Montana Department of Transportation; following that, he drove the Kila High School bus route for District 5. After serving as a school bus driver, Bob returned to work for the MDT, and retired in 2019.

Bob is survived by his wife, Julie (Woods) Komenda, of 40 wonderful years, of Marion. He is also survived by his sons, Jason Glenn and wife Lindsey of Kalispell, Brandon Ray of Marion, and Shane Michael and wife Sabrina of Kalispell; as well as grandsons, Hunter, Kaiden, Nathan, Hudson and Cooper, and one granddaughter, Blake. He is also survived by his brother, Ricky D. Komenda and wife Charlotte, and brother Brad Komenda and wife Laili of Marion; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Merle and Donald Komenda.

Bob loved his family immensely. Throughout his life, Bob loved to hunt, camp, and fish. He also loved to go for drives watching wildlife, jumping on his four-wheeler to gather firewood, and clean up his property. He cherished talking hunting with his brothers, sons, and with other family and friends.

Bob was known for his sense of humor, and in his younger years for being one to jump passionately into the middle of any situation where his power and might were needed! Neighbors appreciated his quick and friendly wave and smile whenever they passed by. Bob was a beautiful man and will be greatly missed.

Per discussions with Bob, he did not want to “coop” people up to mourn his death. Instead, he enjoyed the idea of his friends and family gathering for a celebration of his life, humor and love; and to get an opportunity to share “Bob Stories” outdoors. A celebration of life is being planned for late spring 2022.
