Thomas G. Nees, 83

| February 3, 2021 12:00 AM

Beloved husband, father and brother Thomas G. Nees, 83, of Arnold, Maryland, passed away at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C., Jan. 24, 2021.

Tom was born in Kalispell to L. Guy and Doretta Nees. His birth was attended by his Aunt Marie Lawrence, a local midwife. Tom lived many places throughout his life, but Kalispell and Glacier Park were his roots; he loved to return to hike and visit as often as he could.

Tom was a retired minister in the Church of the Nazarene and founder of Community of Hope, Inc. in Washington, D.C. He was concerned that faith be expressed in social action, confronting injustice and bettering lives and communities.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, artist Patricia (Nichols) Nees; his children, Kay Nees, Cari and husband Paul, Dan Nees, Jennifer and husband David; his brother, Ron Nees, of Missoula; and sisters, Lois Wagner and Carol Nees Brown of Kalispell. Tom dearly loved and was deeply loved by his eight grandchildren and his great-grandchild, and numerous relatives, friends and colleagues. Many people saw him as their very best friend and mentor.

A memorial service date is uncertain.
