Lady Bulldogs rout Loggers; MCAA tourney underway

LIBBY — The Whitefish Lady Bulldogs won easily over the Libby Lady Loggers Thursday, 68-25, behind Gracie Smyley’s 16 points.

Smyley sank three 3-pointers and one free throw.

Ashton Ramsey and Brook Smith each added 13 points for the Bulldogs (11-3 overall, 7-2 league). Smith went 3-for-5 at the free-throw line and Ramsey drained three 3-pointers.

For Libby (3-11, 2-8), Rylee Boltz led with seven points.

EUREKA — Katie Schmidt’s 14 points led the way for Eureka, which held Troy scoreless in the second quarter of its lopsided victory. Michael Shea added nine points for the Lions (11-5 overall, 7-1 in District 7-B play).

Elaine Folkerts’ five points led the Trojans (0-11, 0-7).

Madison Morken had 24 and 11 rebounds Thursday and Stillwater Christian captured its second straight convincing win at the Montana Christian Athletic Association State basketball tournament at Stillwater Christian.

Sophia Sulzbacher added 14 points and Zoe Linn 12 for the Cougars, who beat Bozeman’s Petra Academy 59-34 Wednesday.

Against Petra, Morken and Sulzbacher scored 18 points each.

Also Thursday, Flathead Valley Home School defeated Billings Christian 72-35. The Crusaders’ Codi Kenney passed 1,000 career points in that game, and broke the school record for career 3-pointers.

No other details were provided.

The MCAA boys’ state tournament began Thursday.
