Poe-Hatten scores big win, Brawlers unbeaten

MISSOULA -- Five Flathead wrestlers won two on-mat matches Monday and the Brave Brawleres ended their dual season 14-0 with wins at Missoula Big Sky and Missoula Sentinel.

Fin Nadeau, Noah Poe-Hatten, Ethan Freund, Asher Kamppainen and Logan Lang all had two wins, while Brawlers picked up five forfeits in a 70-0 win at Big Sky.

Highlighting that dual was160-pound sophomore Noah Poe-Hatten’s 5-4 decision over the Eagles’ Hunter Meinzen, a two-time state champion who has signed with Oregon State.

“Noah just gutted it out, really pushed the pace and ended up getting a real ince win over… probably one of the top wrestlers in the Northwestern United States,” Flathead coach Jeff Thompson said. Poe-Hatten avenged an early-season loss to Meinzen.

Another highlight was Asher Kemmpainen’s 4-2 decision over Big Sky’s Izzy Moreno, in a battle of unbeatens at 132. Kemppainen and Moreno were ranked 3-4 in their class.

Lang took just 24 seconds to pin two opponents at heavyweight.

The Western AA seeding meeting is Thursday. The State AA meet will be March 3-6 at Flathead.
