Law roundup: Tenant wears out his welcome in Kila

A Kila resident called Flathead County Sheriff’s Office claiming she had a squatter — possibly her son — who was “trashing things,” in a cabin on her property. Before she called, she said he was digging his heels into a couch. She said she yelled at him and was unhappy with the whole living situation. Based on the information she provided, deputies advised her he was a legal tenant and would need to be evicted.

A burglary was reported on Silver Leaf Drive in Kalispell when a man alleged someone kicked in his door and stole thousands of dollars in quarters. The man, who had a suspect in mind, became agitated at dispatchers for asking questions.

Two dogs reportedly were chasing donkeys on Cougar Drive in Bigfork. The owner of the donkeys was concerned the dogs were about to fight because they were circling each other and had aggressive body postures. The dog owner was issued a citation.

Someone complained about a bunch of garbage on the porch of a building on Brunner Road in Columbia Falls. They told deputies it was a huge eyesore and was blowing around. Deputies observed a significant amount of refuse stacked around the building, but at the time, it wasn’t blowing around.

A man calling from Fourth Avenue in Hungry Horse reportedly saw three people breaking into a residence. He said flashlights and tail lights were visible.

A Kalispell woman was trying to move out of a house and her roommate reportedly refused to give her the boxes and she swore at him while on the phone with dispatchers. Officers spoke with both parties who just wanted “to get on with their lives.” She was advised to call back if the situation worsened.

A Lakeside resident heard a beeping noise coming from a vacant neighbor’s house for days. Deputies cleared the residence and discovered the beeping was coming from dying batteries in smoke detectors.

A woman on Ranchettes Drive in Bigfork believed her dog was stolen because she didn’t think it could have escaped. She provided a description of the canine, however, he didn’t have a collar on and was not chipped.

About 20 horses were hanging out on someone’s Haskill Drive pasture in Whitefish. The caller had their sons head out to try and keep the horses away from the road.

Tenants on McCaffery Road in Bigfork allegedly moved out and left their cat behind.

Extra patrol was requested on Montana 35 in Bigfork after a man was reportedly going door-to-door trying to sell a snowblower. Someone thought the snowblower might be stolen and that the man may be casing houses because there was a recent burglary in the area.

Vehicles were swerving around a woman walking in the middle of U.S. 93 in Kalispell while carrying something. Deputies checked on the woman. She said would stay out of the way of traffic.
